BETA CHAPTER CREATES SUPER PROBATIONARY PERIOD FOR LILIES
_______________________________________________________________________
Education, challenges, growth, sisterhood, community outreach, and fun - these are the goals of the Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc. probationary period. Members of Gamma's Beta Chapter met these goals as they led the newest crop of Gamma Lilies (probationary members so named because of the sorority's flower) through the Summer 2010 probationary period.
Co-founder and National Vice President, Imani Abdul-Haqq, who is responsible for membership, said: "The Gamma Ladies worked several months in advance to recruit and plan for the Summer 2010 Probationary Period. We wanted to make sure that they were maintaining sorority traditions and educating the prospective members about the sorority in constructive, Islamically-based ways. The Beta Sorors served as big sisters to the Lilies and ensured that they created experiences that would be fondly remembered and later followed when the Lilies would also be responsible for the intake process. While I was not able to be present personally, I worked closely with Soror Mischelle Moody (Beta Chapter President) to ensure that the process met National standards and requirements. I am very excited that we now have four new members, and I am pleased that our sorority continues to grow."
During the probationary period, the Lilies worked on projects to enable them to learn about the sorority's six Gold Pillars:
· Islamic Awareness and Involvement
· Environmental Awareness and Involvement
· Educational Development
· Economic Development and Indigent Support
· Physical and Mental Health
· Social Awareness and Involvement
