SPRING 2010 eNEWSLETTER

NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS NOW AT HOME IN TENNESSEE

Effective January 25, 2010, Talbott, Tennessee, became the new home for Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc., when President and Executive Director Dr. Althia F. Ali moved there.

In reflecting on the transition, Dr. Ali said, "All is well in Gammaland. It's only April, and I am pleased to say that we had a seamless transition. Al-humdulillah, we continued to serve our members and communities without any difficulty whatsoever.

We continued with membership service and recruitment, meetings of the Board of Directors, and community outreach with considerable ease, masha'Allah. All of the sorors were understanding and helpful during the early weeks of the transition as I was getting unpacked and re-established, and I thank each of them for their thoughtfulness, duahs, and good wishes.

I have already begun to make visits in the area. Future plans are to continue to introduce myself and the sorority to people and organizations in the Lakeway Area that will benefit from the sorority as well as those who will be able to assist the sorority. This includes Muslims and non-Muslims. Of particular interest for future activities are ways that we can promote interfaith activities and a place for Jummuah Prayers (Friday prayers) in the Morristown area (the closest masjid [mosque] is in Knoxville, which is about 45 miles away).

My goal is that Gamma will make a considerable contribution to the Lakeway area."
