BETA CHAPTER HOLDS SECOND GOLD PRESENTATION FOR LOCAL INTERESTS

AND

CHAPTER DOES ANNUAL COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITY AT DC FASHION SHOW

Beta Chapter members Mischelle Moody (President), Kesha Abdul-Mateen, Yasmin Marquis, Sherice Muhammad, and Sumaiyah Yates were on hand for the chapter's Gold Presentation for prospective members in the Washington, DC, metro area. This was the second Gold Presentation held this year because of increasing interest in membership in the chapter. The event was held on March 27, 2010, at the Arlington County Library in Fairfax, Virginia. The January 2010 event was held at Towson University's Millennium Hall in Maryland.

The Gold Presentation is a traditional, formal meeting designed to provide information about the sorority, to answer any questions that prospective members may have, and to give everyone an opportunity to socialize. Attendance at the Gold Presentation is a requirement for consideration for membership. It does not commit either the prospective member or the sorority for further consideration.

Soror Mischelle says that a third presentation will likely be held before the probationary period begins in June for new prospective members. Anyone interested in membership in Beta Chapter during 2010 should complete a >> membership inquiry form right away so that they can receive an invitation.

In addition, chapter members supported the 14th Annual Sisters Only "Styles of Nobility" Fashion Show and Luncheon Sunday on March 14, 2010. The event was held at the Washington Navy Yard & Conference Center. This is a fundraiser for Clara Muhammad School in Washington,DC, the only Islamic based public charter school in the DC metro area. Prospective members Nurah Smith and Monica Lee attended and worked with Beta as well.
