participate in halaqah on Ramadan with guestBeta Chapter Holds Halaqah on Ramadan
Beta Chapter Soror Amina Copeland-Khokar led Beta Chapter's halaqah on Ramadan on August 24. Soror Amina used information gained in the recent class that she took on SunniPath to help her prepare for this Islamic educational activity.
As she described her intention for the halaqah, Soror Amina stated that she wanted to give those in attendance "the middle ground" in the information that she presented. She touched briefly on the Shaffi school of thought regarding fiqh while she also gave a brief synopsis of differences in other schools of thought. According to Soror Amina, they differ only in regards to practice of the five pillars of Islam, not the aqeedah.
Soror Kesha Abdul-Mateen, Public Affairs Chairperson who attended the halaqah said, "Those in attendance learned a lot and everyone learned something new. The chapter rotates responsibilities to lead discussions and activities on the sorority's Islamic Awareness Pillar as a way to give each soror a chance to spearhead a program."
