Epsilon Chapter Holds 2nd Annual
Art WithIftar and Canned Food Drive and
Plans Several Other Events
"Last year, the Epsilon Chapter's first Art w. Heart iftar (and canned food drive) was a success, and everyone who attended enjoyed themselves and the food ma sha' Allah. . .It's a nice way to spend time doing something beneficial but fun on a Saturday night during Ramadan," said Epsilon Chapter President Ameenah Muhammad as she announced the popular event for 2008.
According to Soror Ameenah, "The Art with Heart Iftar is 'Pottery Painting with a Purpose.' As a part of the iftar, all sisters participate in the Empty Bowls Project run by our gracious hosts for the evening, the All Fired Up Pottery Studio."
Everyone in attendance paints soup bowls which the studio, in turn, donates to the Food Bank of South Jersey. At this point, the Food Bank then sells the bowls to raise funds to fill the "empty bowls" of the hungry in Camden, Gloucester and Burlington Counties.
As a thank you for participating in the Empty Bowls project, the All Fired Up Pottery Studio waives their customary $8 sitting fee that would normally be applied in addition to the costs of the additional piece that participants will be painting.
