Members of Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc. celebrated the fourth anniversary of the sorority's founding over the weekend of April 3-5 at National Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

The weekend's festivities consisted of several activities:

Friday - Dinner, live webcast to connect and re-connect sorors, and pajama party

Sorors from all chapters joined in the live web-based discussion that began with a State of the Sorority discussion by President and Executive Director, Dr. Althia F. Ali, and was followed by members' questions and comments about the future of the sorority.

Sorors joined in the discussion that followed and had an exciting interaction with each other. "Post webcast comments have been extremely favorable about the event. The sorors were so enthusiastic about the event that we have agreed to hold a similar event each month (minus the State of the Sorority address) so that sorors from all chapters can stay connected despite geographical constraints," said Dr. Ali.

Saturday - Luncheon, Gammas day out on the town, dinner, and pajama party

Sorors rose and spent time catching up with each other's lives before heading out for lunch. After lunch, sorors enjoyed the beautiful weather and toured the Cherry Blossom Festival at the Washington, DC tidal basin. After enjoying site seeing of other Washington landmarks and a coffee break, they returned to National Headquarters to rest up before going out to enjoy dinner in Alexandria. They ended the day with a pajama party.

Sunday - Brunch, sorority meeting, and farewell

Sorors enjoyed a relaxing morning before going out for brunch which was combined with a sorority meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways that the sorority can maximize its effectiveness. optimize use of its resources, and achieve its membership and community service goals. Recommendations and other actions that arose from the meeting will be taken to the Board of Directors for review and action.
