The sorors of Epsilon Chapter of Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc. held a Gold Presentation on November 18 to meet and greet prospective members in the Philadelphia metro area.
On hand to talk with prospective members were Coniqua Abdul-Malik, Chapter President; Ameenah Muhammad, Chapter Vice President; Rasheedah Khalifa, membership chair of Epsilon Chapter; and President and Executive Director, Dr. Althia F. Ali.
The Gold Presentation is a traditional, formal meeting designed to provide information about the sorority, to answer any questions that prospective members may have, and to give everyone an opportunity to socialize. Attendance at the Gold Presentation is a requirement for consideration for membership. It does not commit either the prospective member or the sorority for further consideration.
The Epsilon Chapter serves the Philadelphia metro area. Applications for those who attended the Gold Presentation are due by December 18.
Co-founders Imani Canty and Dr. Althia F. Ali recently released the logo and theme for GammaFest 2008, scheduled for April 4-8, 2008, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Designed by Imani, the new logo depicts three women wearing hijab along with the sorority's letters and colors. "The logo shows that Gamma ladies are sophisticated, fashionable, and poised, yet modest," said Imani in describing the logo that she created. The logo will be used for sweatshirts, tee shirts, and other Gamma Gear that will be made available for purchase by sorors.
The theme for GammaFest is Very Necessary. "This theme was chosen because, indeed, our sorority and the event have proven to be very necessary not only to our members but also to the communities that we serve," said Dr. Ali.
GammaFest is a weekend of fun and sisterhood for the sorors of Gamma Gamma Chi Sorority, Inc.
